The GFSI Science Technology Advisory Group Report for 2022 has been published in a partnership between The Global Food Safety Initiative and The Consumer Goods Forum Coalition of Action on Food Safety. In a joint press release, the organizations said that the report “covers key areas the STAG members believe will significantly impact food safety.”
Diez has served on the GFSI Science and Technology Advisory Group (STAG) since it was launched in March of 2021. He was selected as one of only seven members and his participation in the advisory group included speaking at their annual conference in Barcelona, Spain earlier this year and serving as lead author on the Emerging Foodborne Pathogens section of the publication.
According to Diez, “The Global Food Safety Initiative is one of the premier international independent organizations that has had a major impact on advancing food protection. It is truly an honor to be part of STAG to expand our center’s efforts in promoting food safety. GFSI is tapping into STAG’s advice to launch additional initiatives.”
The STAG Chair, David Crean gave a statement in a press release saying, “These papers are essential reading if you are looking for an overview or introduction into these crucial areas of science and technology, allowing the food professional to understand why these areas are important, their scope and likely impact. We plan to follow this initial work by forming working groups to “deep dive” into these topics and produce more detailed outputs. Further subjects are also being discussed and other papers written.”
